We offer elective 2D, 3D, and 4D HD Live prenatal ultrasounds to provide a positive bonding experience for the mother, father, and family members with the unborn baby. We feel that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family. We make no claims that 3D or 4D equipment used in this examination is performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities. You should schedule a routine ultrasound examination with your physician to assess the gestational age of the fetus and to evaluate for fetal anomalies as well as the basic components of fetal anatomy recommended for screening.

3D is a still image while 4D adds the dimension of motion so it looks like a video. HD Live is the newest 4D technology available on the market. HD Live takes your traditional 4D ultrasound and uses a new rendering software and lighting software to allow us to have a much more realistic image of the baby.

WATER! Hydration is the key to better results. We advise drinking ample amounts of water in the 2-3 days leading up to your appointment. Preparation helps us to capture the best images, so drink up! This will also help to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear as well as full. There are many things out of the sonographer’s control like the baby’s position, the mother’s skin type and build, and the amount of amniotic fluid.

No, it does not. Women scheduling an elective prenatal ultrasound package at The Bump Studio must already be receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and have already undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound ordered by their provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and look for any other pregnancy-related issues. An elective prenatal ultrasound session includes a limited diagnostic scan to confirm the heartbeat, the number of babies in the pregnancy, the position of the baby, and the placental location. Please note, at no time is this exam to be used in place of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound.

Extensive studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been proven to cause harm to a mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is highly common. In 3D/4D HD Live scanning, exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D HD Live ultrasound both utilize sound waves to look inside the body. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo, and generates an image. 4D HD Live ultrasound is similar to a conventional scan in terms of exposure. We adhere strictly to FDA standards.

This truly depends on what you are hoping to see. Some mothers like coming in many times – once early on, once after 15 weeks for gender determination when they can see the baby as a whole, and then again between 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and facial definition. After 35 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to guarantee quality pictures because the baby is running out of room. However, all babies are different, and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to 39 weeks.

No. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered Ultrasound, you will purchase one of our packages as an out of pocket expense.

This machine is the best 2D, 3D and 4D HD Ultrasound machine available. Please note, many organizations claim to use “state-of-the-art” equipment, when in fact they use older or inferior technology. Only the GE Voluson E8 with HD Live Technology generates 3D images with amazing clarity and gives you the same clarity with 4D HD Live imagery of your baby in motion. Our equipment allows you to see your baby in live 4D HD motion video unlike any other ultrasound facility within a 200 mile radius!

The Bump Studio environment is inviting, relaxing, and comfortable. We aim to provide a warm, joyful atmosphere where you and your loved ones can cherish the moment. Our overall guest experience is higher quality due to our upscale retail location (instead of a sterile office building).

Depending on the ultrasound package that you select, your actual session will average between 10 and 30 minutes. However, please plan on spending 30 minutes to an hour at our studio so that we can send you home with memories to last a lifetime. It is best to arrive at least 5 minutes early in order to complete our paperwork.

We do not contact your doctor prior to the scan since this is an elective procedure. If we do see something wrong during the scan, we contact your doctor and send her the report. We do require, however, that you are currently are under prenatal care and if you have any concerns, you should ask your doctor. Ultrasound technicians in general cannot make a diagnosis.

Most of the time we are able to get great images, but not always. If the baby is positioned facing mom’s spine or laying against the placenta, it may be difficult. Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother’s condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.

Fetal position is the number one determination of your image quality. Some babies come ready for viewing and great images are obtained. Others simply turn their back or cuddle up to the placenta or the uterine wall or insist on putting their hands and feet in front of their face. We will try hard to move your baby in order to see the face. Drinking juice or eating a little candy may help the baby move a little on the day of imaging.

It is our number one priority at The Bump Studio to obtain the absolute best images of your baby & make sure you are satisfied to the fullest. We use the top of the line ultrasound equipment to ensure this, however, some factors that determine the outcome of your ultrasound are out of our control such as: location of your placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby, the clarity of the amniotic fluid, the baby’s position, & the overall fetal environment. If we are unable to determine the gender of your child or obtain 3D/4D images at your scheduled appointment due to these factors mentioned above, you will be asked to reschedule & come back for a second appointment within the next 14 days at no charge.

Whatever you feel most comfortable in. Our Sonographer will need access to your bump in the process of imaging, so please keep that in mind.

After checking in for your appointment and filling out the necessary paperwork, a sonographer will obtain images of your baby. Whoever you bring along will join you in the viewing room, which comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests.
